Well, I would try soaking the cylinders with engine tuner or one of the other mixes everyone uses. Close the ports, one piston at a time, then fill the cylinder with the cleaner of your choice and let it soak for a day or so, repeat with other cylinder…
Then I would try to get it running to make sure all the cleaner gets expelled from the engine….

i have an At 10 that was also stuck. After I managed to get it unstuck, it has the same problem. I found all of the rings were stuck into the grooves. The problem is, on this motor, there is really no way to get at them besides disassembling the powerhead. If you do, be very, very, carefull trying to pry the rings loose with a screwdriver. They will beak so quick, you won’t even know it happened! Soaking with Engine Tuner, or Mercury Powertune may work, but again it will be hard to get the cleaner into the ring grooves to do it’s job.
Speaking of piston rings, I broke some of mine as well, and need to find some new ones.

The part #41-333 is for the rings std. per the AT,DT,LT-10 manuel. That number SS to #378432 which is OEM number #778344. ME shows that two ring sets at $24.99, but under the OEM #778344 I have been able to get the 3 rings set for $16.00 + shipping. This is the same rings set as 5.5 & 6hp engines. I have many sets of these rings as I plan to rebuild some of those engines in the near future. I have 4 locked up DT-10s myself. Be happy to send out some sets to you Jerry & teton if you would like?

Hi Dan, that would be great! I never got around to looking for those rings, as I’ve had that motor for almost 20 years now. It’s been so long since I looked at that engine, I think it has 3 ring pistons? I’ll take enough for 2 pistons, if you have that many available. I’ll give you a call when I get a minute.
