HELP! I have a 12hp scott mac, I’m resealing the lower unit. I was not aware that it has 2 impellers, and I can’t get the impeller cup out of the lower unit housing. Any ideas or methods would be great! Thanks. scott.
Are you sure it’s supposed to come out ? It doesn’t show up as an item on my parts list. The parts list simply refers to the lower unit housing as the ‘pump housing assembly’.
The top pump is the bailer.
Some of the Scott liner cups were permanently installed with some kind of epoxy-like sealer to keep the water out from between the cup and aluminum housing. They had a big problem with electrolysis corrosion buildup which would bulge and destroy the liner.
Is the bailer pump housing still in place? If so, it might be the drive pin for the water pump impeller hitting the bottom of the bailer impeller housing.
The drawing refers to the top of the gear housing as the ‘pump housing assembly’. Leave the driveshaft in place and slide every thing up ?
This motor has the shift assembly setup on the drive shaft, not the prop shaft.
