At Tomahawk, I bought a Evinrude model 4216 with a brass lower unit (the 76th made).  it is supposed to run, but it has a broken(not functionality prohibiting) skeg, and it is also missing the screw for the lower unit of they type that would usually have “grease” written to the side.  I will have to think about brazing the skeg, but I would like to know if anybody knows where I could find a screw for the lower unit that would fit.  I do not care too much if it is original to the brass lower unit, or the type of motor in general.  It is the same size as a few other OMC motors from the 20s-40s I have, and I would think that they were somewhat standard for all OMC motors of this era. would the screw off of a 1941 sporttwin work?  That is the only motor I can take one off of, but it is at my cabin an hour or so away, and I do not want to go there to get it unless it should fit. Thanks.

Possibly a 1/8 pipe plug would work.

I don’t think that that one has a pipe thread plug, just a small machine screw??? someone will chime in with specific info. If it is an 1/8 ” NPT thread, the plug will be a stubby aluminum plug, straight slotted. Have to find an original or make one from a standard pipe plug, preferably aluminum or likely brass.
