Im restoring a few motors that I am piecing together from parts bins! Parts are growing so trying to get a few motors together from them. It is actually MUCH more time consuming than I had imagined piecing together a motor individually 1 part at a time, lol.
So, one motor Im putting together is a ’55 7.5hp Evinrude Fleetwin.
I have boxes full of mag plates, but as you all know, they just have casting numbers on them. Im not sure what casting number is for the ’55 Fleetwin, any ideas here?
I have a couple that are pretty close, I can tell by the wide cam they have, but not sure for certain.
Or alternatively, anyone have a picture they took of a ’55 Fleetwin mag plate while they were working on it? I may be able to zoom in on the casting number.
Cheers

November 22, 2015 at 8:02 pm #27518Actually, good old ebay saved the day! Searched the part number, someone had one on there, then could zoom in to inspect casting number.
510166-1 is it for anyone doing a future search on this.
November 22, 2015 at 8:13 pm #27519I have a hard copy of this, but found this online for anyone that does not have the General Parts Reference Guide, handy to have!

November 22, 2015 at 9:12 pm #27525Yeah, I made it easy on myself and I didn’t even know it!
Looking through the boxes of mag plates, I found a 510166 with a note on it that said, "Use this when you restore that ’55 Fleetwin"
Doh! The Chris in the past, knew Chris in the future would forget.

I love it, but if that were me, I would be wondering who wrote that note! 😆
