In the recent past I put together a sizable order to go over a 1958 Johnson 18 HP. at Marine engines . com They listed all parts as being in stock so I proceeded to check out and then a notice came up. It said some parts were not in stock so the whole order would be held up till all parts were available. As I had never ordered from them before I was leery of placing the order with an open ended response from them. As the order info was still on the computer screen I tried to call them and just got a recording that no one was there to answer also very open ended. I figured if it was one or two items I would delete them from the order to get the rest shipped and get them separate. With no way to contact I decided to get my parts elsewhere. A couple of days later I get a email from them if I wanted to order the parts. I responded in the email. I said I was ready to order and that the order would not be shipped until all parts were available and could not call to see what the issue was and to please contact me. They never responded back so I bought elsewere. I hear people talk highly of them here are they reliable or squirrelly. Anybody have personal experiance with them good or bad? Let me know Bill.

December 2, 2020 at 10:57 am #224099I do about 95% of my business with them.

December 2, 2020 at 11:59 am #224114I have used them with no problem. I do think they have a way to tell what dealers have in stock and order from them and reship it to you when they get it. That’s probably what happened in your case. Think of it–what would happen to the shipping charges if they backordered two or three items from different sources.
December 2, 2020 at 2:48 pm #224118I’ve ordered lots of parts from them in the past few years, with absolutely no problem. There were several times when something I ordered was not in stock and they held the entire order, but it never took more than a few days for them to acquire the missing part and ship the entire order. Always received exactly what I ordered too – no missing pieces or substitute pieces.

Pricing a bit on the high side. I check with them first, then E Bay to see who is lower.
Bob DDecember 2, 2020 at 8:48 pm #224146I’ve never had a bad experience with them over ~15 years. I can’t say the prices are the best but they’re one of the longest-lived online retailers in the biz. If you have any problems, call them and ask to speak Andrew directly.
December 2, 2020 at 9:05 pm #224151I got a GREAT deal once. picked up a complete NOS carb for a 1963 2 cyl 350 for $65.00 . the top alone goes for over $100.00
December 3, 2020 at 5:08 am #224158I agree with Dave. Every once in a great while, they have some kind of dead item, that they have marked way, WAY down, apparently just to get rid of it. I got an OEM accessory fuel pump kit for a Mercury Gnat, for $50. It included the pump, line connector, special hoses etc. My ship really came in, that time.
I have an account set up and pay with Pay Pal. It is unbelievably easy.
Long live American manufacturing!
