What Lube does a Martin 100 with the Neutral shifter use in the lower unit?

40 weight non-detergent motor oil was what the manual said.
I couldn’t find that locally, and ended up buying a gallon of
40 W mineral oil, used in some very old engines for the 20’s or 30’s.
The fellows on the Martin Fun page assured me that what I
        bought was okay.

Like Buck, I struggled to find a  straight 40w oil. Last year I learned the NAPA has it.

          40W

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Tubs, is that NAPA oil non-detergent?
