My info shows Lubriplate 105 as NLGI 0. I would check with Russ Larson at Martinoutboards to see if there are long term implications to using something other than 40Wt ND in it. He would have the experience to know if anything bad happens.

In an email reply, Russ states to use Non Detergent 40 wt for the
neutral shift gear boxes, and use the 3/4 pt oil / gallon for the fuel mixture.
If he had thoughts on substitutes, he did not share them.

Yep, I stand corrected, Lubriplate is NLGI 0 not 00. As for using it in your Martin, Russ would know best…I can only tell you what my experience has been. If you’re concerned about water intrusion, the best course of action is to replace the seals and stick with the original recommendations.

When I had seal problems with my 56′ Johnson QD, one of my learned buddies used Lubirplate 105…shift worked fine. We later replaced the seals and filled it with Mystic gearlube from Farm & Fleet
