Well, I finally got the lark back on the water. Ran it with the lower pitch prop (10 3/8 x 12 1/2) and it ran so nice that I fell in love with this motor all over again. No problems in the turns at all.

I did change the gasket on the tank but as mentioned earlier, it wouldn’t make any difference regarding vaccum leaks since it’s a single line tank.

I did not change the fuel lines on the tank. I will plan to do that over the winter after the boating season, but I never run ethanol fuel in my motors.

I still plan to get a small tach and will pay attention to rpms in the future.

Thanks for all the help and info on this one!

        Scott,
Glad to hear you got the Lark back on the water. I hadn’t had any real world experience with changing prop pitch until my pontoon. I know it made a world of difference when I lowered the prop pitch on the 55hp Johnson on that boat. I put a tach in the console on the pontoon, but i use a TinyTach for checking my smaller motors in my tin can. It sounds like you have it pretty well sorted out now and that’s a good thing!
