Okay, I did it. I finally broke open my wallet to join the SW Florida chapter of this club. Can somebody tell me if there is a need or if so what it would be to join the national part of the club. I was of the understanding that you couldn’t join the local/state affiliation without joining the national. So what have I joined? Is there more that I need to do? I am particularity interest in the Out-boarder Magazine. I don’t see anything that says I will get that.
Thanks!
November 11, 2020 at 10:09 pm #220648The Outboarder Magazine is a great reason to join the national club. Some local clubs also have their own newsletter. The requirement to join national if you want to also join local has to do with liability insurance national has that extends to cover you and protect the local club at local meets.
DaveNovember 12, 2020 at 8:17 am #220660The main benefit of the national AOMCI club is the collaborative knowledge base sharing. If needed, you have connections to SIGs Special Interest Group Leaders. SIGs have specific knowledge base and experience with designated motors that can be a great benefit to you.
Networking within the club to find certain motors or hard to find replacement parts.
A data base of collective information for reference is available, but is limited due to legal restrictions.
A good group of guys and gals that are willing to help that spread across the globe. We have many friends in North America, Europe, Australia. If, I have left out friends in other areas, my apologies 🙂
Cheers,

That magazine we get is so much more than it used to be…crazy good.
And now the details…I am not sure how you could have joined the SW Florida Chapter without first being a member, in good standing, of the national AOMCI parent club itself. Not sure with whom you have spoken to or paid monies to but, our bylaws clearly spell this out.
So, you may have actually paid to join the AOMCI national, the amount you paid will tell you which one, $40 for a year is the national membership fee for one year membership and $70 for a 2 year membership.
Oh and
