      Well, try the tilting back idea. Does the new needle have a spring? The spring ones will overflow if you pump the bulb too hard.

          The engine runs and water is pumping and cool. However if I keep the fuel line connected the motor floods itself and stops running. Do I need to adjust the idle mixture screw or the float?

            As I recall, you have a new, solid float valve. If it IS a solid one, then, when you hold the carb body upside down, the float should be relatively parallel to the carb. There is an actual measurement but this is ball park, to run okay. If the run quality cleans up just before it runs out of gas after the fuel line is disconnected, then it’s probably not the idle mixture adjustment. What about a new fuel pump diaphragm? It could be leaking by, causing a rich run…

              Already replace the fuel pump gaskets
