Bought an impeller on Ebay… supposed to be the 47-24472 impeller but the one I got is much bigger on the height and it has a square keyway instead of the round one. My old impeller has a terrible set to the blades so I won’t be able to get an accurate measurement. I have my old one at my shop and I’m at home at the moment…does anyone have the correct measurements of the correct impeller? Want to be armed with good info before I contact the guy I bought the impeller from. I also have an old 1970 Sierra catalogue that shows a sierra part number which another guy on ebay has and it looks more like the impeller that came out of my motor. Even being old stock I might purchase one of his if this deal goes south.
February 10, 2022 at 9:04 pm #254393I had this in my notes for a KD4. I have no idea if it’s
the same as your KE4.18-3072 Sierra impeller for Mercury KD4
Overall Diameter : 48mm 1.89
Shaft Size Diameter : 11mm .433
Depth :13.5mm .531
Blade :6Prepare to be boarded!
February 10, 2022 at 9:14 pm #254396Thanks Buc…the old Sierra # for mine is 18-3013…I found a guy with 2 of them on Ebay so I went ahead and bought one of them. $50.00 all in which is about the same as I paid for the incorrect one. If the guy has the correct one I’ll have him replace it and I’ll either have a spare or offer it to anyone on AOMCI. We’ll see what happens. I’ve got the carb down now and am going to need a float and gaskets. While I have your attn…my cork float is whole but it needs sealer…i’ve seen what some others have done but is there a simpler way to seal/spray? I might just go ahead and buy a new black plastic foam type.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
February 11, 2022 at 11:41 am #254413Thanks Tubs, I found a Sierra impeller on Ebay last nite and ordered it. Just got done sending an email to the guy I purchased the improperly marked impeller so we’ll see what he has to say. I did give him the dimensions you gave me to compare to his.

I wish I knew that a month ago but I did find one on Ebay. As a club we need to come up with a system of letting members know what parts are available from our own membership. I’m going to make a list of known members with parts…your on it!! Do you have any other parts available?
March 20, 2022 at 9:58 am #256541Dan,
On the main menu of our site Resources down arrow to links this is an area for antique/classic outboard items that are either member involved or know quality vendors. When going one Ebay it is either hit or miss due to some very good vendors there but also poor ones … Hope this helps…Travis
