Compression is 107 lbs on top cylinder and 100 on bottom. I’m thinking anything 100 lbs + is good?

OK…several things on this motor…first…yes Dave left hand thread and yes Bob lefty tighty righty loosey…lol…impellar has taken a heavy set and is worn out so I will be ordering a new one. Put the flywheel back on and found that a 1 7/8 12 point socket seems to work good to tighten the nut but what is the torque? Did squirt some fuel in the carb and it started and ran for several seconds so I’m pretty confident it will run in the tank. Cosmetically it’s pretty sound…couple of very small dents in the tank…the shroud seems very good. It’s missing the choke knob,has the wrong bolts for the shroud and has the wrong rewind handle which I think I’ve seen advertised in the outboarder. Are the bolt heads painted the green color from the factory? Have seen them both ways. Will start a thread in the Current Projects section soon so thanks for the replies to date.

if you are talking about the starter and the lower cowl, NO they are not painted.

Yea, that’s what I was talking about Dave…seems that they are 1/4×28 truss head on the pan which is what all the other fasteners look like on the motor. I’ll find some nice stainless bolts.
