      Hello all…
Again, I am fairly new here & know a little about Johnson Seahorse motors. Now I’m looking into purchasing a Merc KG-7. How do I know if this motor is the “H” model “Q” model etc.
Also, is this motor a good match to a 1956 Penn Yan 12ft. Swift that the hull has been glassed over ??

the pic is a standard KG7 not a racing H or Q. which would no work well on your boat.

Could you please teach me how you know by looking at the 2 pics that it’s not an “H” or “Q” racing motor so that when I find another one I will know how to see the difference in the details?
If this was an “H” motor, would that be a good match for the 12ft. 1956 Penn Yan Swift? I haven’t purchased the boat yet, I have found one available to purchase tho, & am doing the research before making a decision.
Just wish it wasn’t glassed over.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

And the tower unit gear ratio is not right for a non race boat. keep the Penn Yan with the fishing KG7. NICE setup.
