This doesn’t go into neutral. First time seeing this set up. Cable moves slightly but stayes in gear. This is how I received it.
February 5, 2022 at 12:43 pm #254051looks like it is similar to TN neutral cables… have you tried resettitng it by loosening the clamp . see if it operates by pulling it manually with pliers

February 5, 2022 at 6:13 pm #254073Oh now your scaring me! Is this a complicated motor to work on? What does that cable have to do with the impeller?
February 5, 2022 at 7:29 pm #254080likely nothing but fishing a frayed cable back up to the clamp won’t be fun

February 6, 2022 at 6:32 am #254086When you drop the lower end to change the impeller, that cable necessarily gets pulled out of its tube. On assembly, it has to go back up the tube. When the cable end gets frayed, getting it back up the tube is really hard. Your cable looks pretty darn good right now. I am just advising you to be respectful of it, that’s all. The impeller change is harder than you think but easier than you probably fear. Probably. It just takes an extra dose of patience, like all Mercs. Mark 5s are really, really good runners when they’re right. They will run circles around a comparable Johnson TN28, with half the smoke.
Long live American manufacturing!
February 6, 2022 at 2:50 pm #254118Did some messing with the cable slack. I have neutral now. Thanks. I’m assuming corn head grease is the choice for the gear case? There’s only one fill screw no vent.
can these be fixed-welded?February 6, 2022 at 4:43 pm #254138 -
