Ok Guys,   I’m working on replacing the crankshaft seals on my Mk 28 power head and just received the seals for it ! In looking at the two lower seals they are identical except the one has a tiny home drilled thru the steel case. So my question is which one goes in the lower position facing the lower unit and which one faces the crankshaft ?

My instinct tells me the one with the hole goes in facing the lower unit and the other one faces the crankshaft !

My other question is, why ?  Hope someone has the answer ?

      Thanks

      Gary

the lips on both face down…… the one with the hole goes on first it drains some oil to lube the lower seal.
