Merc-o-tronic model 74-168 TM tachometer battery

Hi All,
I just picked up this inductive tach that’s missing its battery, and am wondering if someone might know what battery it takes.  I see there are manuals for other mercotronic instruments on the website, including the ignition analyzer, but nothing for this particular model tach.  Any help would be much appreciated!

I think AA battery

if not…. could be a higher volage battery .. take it to a good battery shop they may have something to  ” fit”  if not AA’s

Does a AA fit?  The holder looks longer.  If it fits, see if the ” Set” adjustment allows you to move the needle to the Set indicator.  If not it takes a higher voltage battery, perhaps an 18650.

A good battery shop man would know since the length will determine the type … typically eact  type has it’s own size.
