      I would like to replace the badly corroded lower shift shaft #30540. When I look online at the replacements they all seem to be full shafts from the cowl to the gearcase. Is there a replacement that is the same length as the original?

        Mike,

        I had this problem once and my solution was to turn the shift shaft end for end, which put the seal in a non-worn area. That might be an option for you.

          look up the correct shaft with the year and serial ###
