      US MEMBER PAY BY CHECK

      What is the procedure for removing this Mercury starter.  It appears that the starter has to be removed from its’ bracket somehow, for screw access, before the bracket can be removed.

        Harry, you sure that’s a ‘56? Can you post the serial number? I thought the ‘56 model was changed to feature the bendix style starter and changed the recoil cover to accommodate the top part of the starter. That is the earlier “swing” style starter which I thought was only used on 1955 models.

            Yep, 1955 model. I don’t know about disassembly but i’ll look at mine tomorrow.

              Like Rosanna Danna would say :  That changes everything.   Never Mind.

              No need to look at yours unless this 1955 starter is interchangeable with a 1956 starter.
