Trying get the 400 shift to operate correctly. The top portion seems to be straight forward(put in forward drive position)….but the lower splined shaft seems like it can be varied from clockwise to counterclockwise( at least a 1/2 turn)? So where do you set this? I had this lower unit off several times…where should I turn the lower splined shaft…what position? Thanks for any help..
October 6, 2025 at 9:49 pm #300414Never did a 400 but if its like a few others align both shift lever & gearcase to forward & install. Cant remember but domething having to do with reverse lockout too.
