A friend of mine has a Mercury outboard. He asked me to help him out with it. It has a 8 horse cowl on it and bought it used represented as a 8 horse. He lost some of the latch parts for the cowl. I told him to get the number off the engine and look up the missing parts needed. The number is 0G220073 but the people at the parts dealer said this number is for a 10 horse Mercury not an 8 hp. Can anyone confirm what year and horsepower this engine is? Is it possible for an 8 horse cowl to also fit a 10 horse engine.He said he is missing some of the small parts and bolt for the latch assembly. Thank You Bill,
