Does the shape of the damper matter?
Does the location on stud matter?
Was it free to move or was it fixed to a specific location on stud?

      Need to make a couple.
A cylinder would be much easier to make than a truncated cone.
I have a partial part to work from. Part # 21167
Same part for KE7 thru KG4
      Thanks
      Louis

You mean these cones? Where the foot attachment rod approaches the inside rear of the tower housing, there should be two little bumps that stop the cone, keeping the rod from flexing. Very important to include a cone when reassembling a motor. Be sure it is in the correct position, stopped by the little bumps, before attaching the powerhead. Won’t do any good if it falls all the way down to the lower unit.

My buddy didn’t and the rod broke dropping his lower unit into the river one day. The bottom nut had come off. That nut retainer is very important also. If you can’t find a retainer use a Nyloc nut.

The rod has a square nut at the top which must be clocked to fit into the recess in the bottom of the block that keeps it from loosening. I think there is a 12-point socket that fits the square nut.
You can replace that nut with a hex Nyloc nut. Cheers, JW
