I am an hour away from this motor but I know nothing about Mercs. This one looks nice in the single pic advertised but seller says timing belt is shot but otherwise it’s not in bad shape. Is it worth $100? Hopefully pic is attached…

Timing belt is no big deal. If it pulls through with the starter rope and you can feel fairly even compression on all four then, yes, it’s worth $100.

Absolutely, you should save that motor.

While you’re replacing the the timing belt, open up the mag/distributor to make sure spiders haven’t set up house in it. If it’s anything like my Mark 30, it’s a bear to get the mag off for inspection and cleaning.

I took a look and some pics yesterday. I will post on the leads for motors forum when I get back home. The motor is in Salt Lake City and I am flying back to Florida today. I really like the motor except it was missing a part of the “rail thing” around the base. Other than that, it seemed prime to be a nice original runner.

If any one here gets this motor, I have an good lower cowl to replace the piece that is broke on this motor.
