A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Looks like you have a nice gauge set.
I’m still using my 30 plus year old Craftsman
gauge, but it’s working good.Prepare to be boarded!
December 8, 2020 at 8:41 pm #224674OK, I’ll bite. The first picture makes sense. But, just where is the check valve in the second picture, you mention it is “at the gage”…Nonetheless, the slight drop in compression makes sense from the first to the second picture.
But, just where is the check valve in the third picture?? It appears to be in blue plastic sleeve just below the gage. Maybe the picture is deceiving and there is another one near the plug threads.
Your fourth picture mentions that the check valve is “at the gage” and shows a low compression reading, which makes sense.
I’m wondering why there is such a difference between the third and fourth readings, when it appears that the blue check valve is just below the gage….Again, maybe you had two check valves and were using one near the spark plug hole…
As usual, I’m probably just overthinking all this… Just want to make sure I understand what you are pointing out…DonDecember 8, 2020 at 9:05 pm #224675December 8, 2020 at 9:07 pm #224676Tubs, great explanation and demonstration!

December 9, 2020 at 6:26 am #224691OK, so your set up in the second to last picture has two check valves? One in the threaded tip, then another one up by the gage in the blue??? Again, I’m agreeing with you but just trying to understand your various set ups…
