I purchased a model R the other day and am trying to determine the year of boat. Paper with boat says it’s a 1971 but in looking on line the model R was listed as a R-7 in ’71 and 12 ft long. Mine has only the "R" listed on tag, along with 540 lb load cap, about 11 and 1/2 ft long and there is no drain plug. Don’t see any serial # listed on tag. Any help would be appreciated.
      Thanks, Tom

The serial number should be on the transom brace. E-mail Alumacraft with the number, and they will provide you the year of manufacture. Lack of a drain plug sounds like a 1950s hull to me.

            FYI my model R is #1642 and it’s a 1955.

1956…Enjoy. Single biggest year of production…500 units. Only made 2,289.

They are great boats. Handle well and can handle some horsepower.

Pappy; I like what you did with the seat cushions.

Got a reply from AlumaCraft stating my R is from 1967?? Doesn’t make a lot of sense as the ’55 was 1642. Only around 400 model Rs since 55?

Must be a typo or an oversight or something. I don’t even think they made straight R models in 1967. I have a flying C and alumacraft told me the hull number says it’s a deep C. Whatever. Keep in mind they couldn’t give a crap about this old stuff. Pick your favorite year and call it that.

                        Hey Scott,
I don’t want to hijack this thread but I just bought a Flying C on Saturday. Mine is a 1959 according to Alumacraft. I posted pics on the "Current Projects" Board.
