        Hey Question for you…

I have a 1973 Johnson 9.5hp Motor. What is the Green Color on the lower part of the motor? I need to repaint mine. Yours looks great!

            Thanks for the shots.
When I restore a motor, I never clearcoat the paint because I feel it makes the paint look unnaturally shiny.
These pictures affirm my decision. The factory paint had a nice shine, but nothing over the top.

LLoyd L. used to go into great detail about his paint work. He would clear coat to protect the decals from fuel mix, but he would add a dulling agent to the clearcoat. This kept the finish from being overly glossy and more true to original.

Great idea regarding the dulling agent. You get your protection, and a nice natural shine. Never thought about that.
                  Thanks,
