These come up on E-Bay all the time, and also on Craigslist in states with a lot of lakes , like Minnesota and Wisconsin, but more in the spring than now..

        Here’s a remote box on E-bay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1958-johnson-v4s-10-50hp-v4-remote-control-ship-master-outboard-motor-parts/274344605754?hash=item3fe036783a:g:4eYAAOSwYxBaC6z

Any old two lever Johnson/Evinrude throttle/shift box from the 1950s up through the 1970s will work, but sometime in the late 1970s, the cable end for the motor for the throttle was redesigned, but that end can be swapped.

You will probably have to buy new cables to get the correct length (length is critical to proper operation) – they are sold in one foot increments made by Teleflex (400 series) and are reasonably priced, good cables. Her is one example of a place to buy them: https://www.boatersland.com/enginesystems-controlcables-tel400.html

You will have to buy the cable ends for the motor separate, unless you get some cables with your control box, then you can move the ends you get to the correct length cables.

Forgot to mention that usually the throttle cable ends up being longer than the shift cable. If cables are too long and have to be coiled up some, the wire inside the cable doesn’t move freely enough.

You can also post a free wanted ad here in our classified section. You will likely get several responses.

Are you trying to match a “Year Correct” control or does that matter to you” The “square” control that came out in the 1960’s works much better than the rounded one in outbdnut’s link. Either one will work, any old year motor. The square control was redesigned inside in 1979 to use pre-assembled cables (Type 479), another big improvement, and still works with older motors.

Here’s an example of what a square control looks like. (Pre-1979 cables)
