      I was given this older Johnson outboard today. There is no model identification anywhere on the outside of the motor. I have attached photos of it. Does anybody have an idea of what year and model it might be? I’m guessing it’s a 1955 JW-11 3hp. Anybody know where I can get a parts list for it?

      Thank you for any help you may have.

          I’m pretty sure going on the single clamp screw and the thicker trunk under the power head,it will be 1964 to 1966.

              1964 = JH-19
              1965 = JH-20
              1966 = JH-21

              Here is parts list for JH-20

                Carlasdaddy: Back in 1955 the Johnsons were green.

                I believe yours is indeed a 1966 JW-21. When you remove the cowling and look over the powerhead you should find an ID on what looks like a freeze-plug.

                  It is actually a JH-21E, which is a 1966 3hp extended shaft motor. When viewing the carburetor parts listing on marine.com, the parts list did not go with the diagram. I checked the diagram for a JH-20 carb and it looks identical to the JH-21 diagram, so I assume the parts list is the same. Am I correct?

                    Motor in the picture is not an extended shaft. It is a short shaft. If you think it is a 1966, the model would be JH-21. The trailing “E” only denotes a mid-year change IF there was a change. Otherwise, it means nothing. I don’t know of any significant changes in the carburetor, assuming yours has a fixed high speed jet, as a -21 should have

                      If it’s any help to you Carlasdaddy, there should be an I D plate showing model and serial numbers just above the thumb screw, in a recess on the mounting bracket (which clamps the motor to the boat)

                      If you look at the middle picture that you posted, I think you will find it……. it’s hidden behind the carrying bracket thats across the front of the motor.

                        To frankr: If you look on marineengine.com for a Johnson JH-21 and look at the lower gearcase group for a standard drive, item #38 (part#0310355) is a 5″ gearcase extension. Here is the link: https://www.marineengine.com/parts/evinrude-johnson-parts-diagrams/JOHNSON/381410-GEARCASE-GROUP-STANDARD-DRIVE.gif
