To Monte NZ: If you look at the middle picture, you will see a tag wired to the side of the carrying bracket. Because it was just wire to the bracket, I mistakenly assumed that it wasn’t the right tag for that motor. There is nothing attached to area you mentioned. the tag must have come off at some point and the previous owner attached it to the bracket.
November 22, 2021 at 4:21 pm #250060Does anybody have a parts list for the carburetor for this motor? The parts list shown in marineengine.com goes to the magneto group. It is shown wrong for both a JH-21 and a JW-21.

Here is a motor with the extension you mention.
FrankR has many years of service in the outboard industry.
He knows what he’s talking about.November 23, 2021 at 12:14 pm #250113I apologize if it seemed like I was questioning Frank’s knowledge. I only meant to point out that there was an extension available for that motor. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks likes the JH20 and the JH21 models used the same carburetor. The parts list for the JH20 on marine.com is correct, so I’ll use that to order parts. Sometime this winter, I will probably remove the cowl, gas tank, etc. and check the model number on the freeze plug. Also, the throttle lever is frozen in 1 position, so I’ll address that issue, too. Thank you everyone for all your help, so far.
November 24, 2021 at 9:18 am #250186It is actually a JH-21E, which is a 1966 3hp extended shaft motor. When viewing the carburetor parts listing on marine.com, the parts list did not go with the diagram. I checked the diagram for a JH-20 carb and it looks identical to the JH-21 diagram, so I assume the parts list is the same. Am I correct?
OK, well the engine could have come from the factory as a long shaft engine, but someone could have converted it to short shaft after the fact, the engine pictured is a short/standard/15″ model as
Frank stated.
What is different about your carb vs the carb shown online? Maybe you can post some pictures, someone could have swapped carbs or pieces…Perhaps they added an adjustable high speed needle and bowl…November 24, 2021 at 10:46 am #250188It’s not the carb that’s wrong – it’s the parts list on marine.com that’s wrong. The parts list shown for the carb diagram is for the magneto, not the carb diagram. The parts list shown for the JH20 coincides with the diagram.
November 24, 2021 at 10:29 pm #250228The carb diagram is correct for my carb. It is the parts list below the diagram that is incorrect. The parts list shown is for the magneto group. Attached is a screenshot of the carburetor group diagram and the beginning of the parts list which shows item #0 as a spark plug lead. There is no item #0 in the diagram. Marineengine.com should correct this error.
