OK, well a good lesson for all of us to remember then.
Sometimes our test equipment can be our worst enemies!

This was a first time for me. I think what happened is since it is a short shaft, and a bigger motor (most the time I’m dealing with older 25hp and below), this thing just breathes a lot more exhaust, and the barrel just can’t get rid of the bubbles fast enough.

I have noticed this at WOT on the older 25hp motors too, but usually can run it WOT for 3-4 mins and not see water supply shut off.

A thing to note is the long shaft motors seem to do just fine since they are lower in the barrel.

Let’s just say this motor is just about good as new after all the extra repairs I did to it, chasing a ghost. This customer will be very happy for years to come!

IF you are to continue doing this, you may want to invest in some test props.

You need a pretty big test tank to run anything 25hp or bigger in at throttle without it causing issues.

Not to mention a runaway situation.

I mentioned in response to your earlier post, I use test props for anything above 8hp…otherwise I would be soaked awfully fast at WOT 🙂

            Keep motoring on brother!
