Dear members of the AOMC:
My uncle, Donald Spinelli, passed away this summer. He was an avid enthusiast of antique boats, a boat builder, and a collector of antique motors. In trying to assist his grieving widow in the sale of some of his items, I was recommended to contact you. He has at least 2 antique motors and a motor stand that my aunt would like to sell.
Obviously this is painful for her so I am trying to help, but I don’t know much about how to do that.
Can any members offer any advice or would anyone here be willing to consider purchasing them? I am attaching pictures of two of the motors.
Thanks for any help you can offer for the widow of a fellow enthusiast.
Peace,
Martin Doman

January 8, 2021 at 11:50 am #227234Those mercs are beautiful…I’m sure someone here would cherish them, where are you located?
January 8, 2021 at 11:58 am #227235I would put an ad on the classified section of this website

Sorry to hear of your uncle’s passing and of his wife’s understandable grief. I am nterested in the blue mark 75 depending upon where it’s located, etc. I second the idea of an ad on our classifieds section as there is no cost to post an ad and it will reach many, many members.Where do you guys call home?

January 8, 2021 at 4:03 pm #227253Condolences on the loss of your uncle ,While the ads on e-bay are often over inflated, I often check there for similar items. Do not use the asking prices, but rather follow the item to see if it sells ,and for how much.
January 8, 2021 at 7:34 pm #227258My condolences on the loss of your uncle. Those 2 Mercs are bound to sell pretty quickly. As others have noted, place an ad in the Classifieds section.

Looks like you have two different Mercury stands. Would need some better pictures of everything but those stands often go for several hundred dollars each depending on condition and vintage. Do the motors spin when you pull the starter rope? Pictures with the covers open so the motor can be seen would help. Pictures from all different angles of the motors would be good. Not sure where you’re located but if your lucky there might be a member that is local to you that could help evaluate the motors.

January 9, 2021 at 10:00 pm #227345The motors are in northern NJ. I know them well even helped work on them. I also believe that there is only one stand that I remember. It has been drilled on the bottom to mount it to the wood that has casters on it.
January 10, 2021 at 8:42 pm #227389Hope he gets them sold for a reasonable price. In the pictures he posted it looks like the Mark 75 is on a different stand. Maybe old pictures and things have changed.
