I’m embarrassed to ask for your help! Still looking for the correct Carb for an early 1922 Rudder Twin (see picture) if you have one I’m interested. Early is a RT without an alpha letter before the serial number on the tag plate.
I took apart the carb maybe 6 months ago. If you have photo of a early 1922 carb so I could see the needle adjustment knob which should refresh my memory, I hope!

STILL LOOKING FOR AN EARLY TR 1922 CARB!
March 28, 2021 at 6:41 pm #235214March 29, 2021 at 12:41 am #235226The earliest ruddertwin carb from 1921 F models is different than the 1922 “no-letter” carb.
The 1921 F carb has a different handle in that it is half as long as later carbs and is shaped differently and it is pinned to the air lift needle instead of squeezed via a slot & screw.
ONLY these 2 carbs have the air intake opening low down on the starboard side below the mounting bolt.
Externally, both carbs look identical except that the large hex on top of the 1922 “no-letter” carb is recessed in the center area below the handle for a spring & flat washer which give the handle some friction holding ability. The 1921 F hex is flat & smooth on top but for the air lift needles’ small hole in the center below the handle.
Internally, these 2 carbs are different. The 1921 F carb has a very steep angle to the valve and its seat in the body, (which proved to cause problems). The 1922 “no-letter” carb has the common shallow angle valve & seat.
So to sum this all up, externally, a 1922 “no-letter” carb has the air intake low down on the side below the mounting bolt and the hex on top should have a recessed area with a spring & flat washer below a long handle on top.
If I knew how to post pictures, I would.March 29, 2021 at 1:18 am #235228Somehow I have a second brass piece that didn’t make sense to me. You verified that a part got mixed in with other carb parts. Need to find another ’22 carb, my needle is froze. Thanks stay safe!
March 30, 2021 at 6:53 pm #235307Resolved! Thanks
