Here is the schematic showing the Inlet Valve.

I’m thinking that, after you remove the clip that’s just above the float, the float just slides up and off the pin (inlet valve) then after the float is removed, you can remove the clip that’s under the float, then the valve slides out from the bottom of the float bowl.  Tomorrow I’ll make a tool that I can slide down the side of the cork float then twist and pull the float up and off the pin (inlet valve)?

So my “in general” statement did not apply.  That is not the kind of pin or screw hinge I was thinking off.  Here there is no hinge.  I would think taking off that top clip you found should let the float slide up and off.  Based off of the diagram, you shouldn’t need to worry about the lower clip.  Once the float is off, (and there are no other non-metal pieces attached to the carburetor) you can spray carburetor cleaner through all the passageways to clean it out.  Sometimes, there is no need to take apart every piece.  Then again, I have not worked on your carburetor before so go ahead and investigate!

            Well, that worked!

Float cork was “welded” to that rod with old tarnished fuel/oil.  Fished it out with a wire with a hook on it.  Carb cleaner might have worked just as well.  After the cork came out, we cleaned it real good and set it back down in some gasoline.  She floats!

Cleaned carb, and am working on getting the tank cleaned out.  First round of white vinegar (overnight) and some shaking of small rocks cleaned most of the junk out.  Rinsed, then added another round of white vinegar to soak overnight once more.

Can’t mess with it tomorrow, but Sunday we add fuel and jerk in the rope for the first time in what appears to be, a long time!  Getting close..

She runs!  Engine fired on second crank, then started and ran on the third crank!  Pinhole in fuel tank has surfaced, water leaking around coolant flange on head, and we need a larger water tank, because trying to run it in a five gallon bucket does not work, unless you leave the water turned on!  Ha

After we find a propeller, fix the fuel and water leaks, then maybe we can get this thing “dialed in” so she’ll operate with a bit more confidence.

              Thanks for the help, ya’ll!
