A new book is out on Amazon volume one of three
Outboards 80 Years of ReminiscenceA well written researched and illustrated by Larry Carpenter about outboards, boats stories , and the people who made them. 164 stories in 3 volumes this is the first from Trailerboat a few from the Antique Outboarder and some others
March 5, 2019 at 9:38 pm #170398Great to hear about it. Larry has been a foremost collector and writer for decades. Had a good visit one evening fall of ’87 at his place. Got a letter here someplace from Wiley about this suggestion.
March 6, 2019 at 3:58 am #170411Larry’s Old outboard column in TrailerBoat magazine is what made me subscribe to the magazine.. Now you’ve made me buy another book . . .
March 6, 2019 at 9:19 am #170420Spot on, Garry. When the column disappeared I canceled my subscription. The magazine wasn’t good for much else except maybe what Jim Barron wrote.
"Fox News" isn't.
March 6, 2019 at 1:01 pm #170437I have been an outboard mechanic since the 50’s I am amazed that others feel the same about Trailerboat mag I bought it because of Jim Barrons engine reviews you could read between the lines weather some engine was any good or not Larry’s antique corner was a real bonus I compiled his stuff because my nagging him didn’t work to put it in a book so I stupidly said I would do it so you see the results of an outboard mechanic getting into publishing I hope you enjoy the second reading some of his articals were shortened in Trailerboat these are his original submissions

I ordered my copy today. Will have to bring it to a meet and get it signed by Larry sometime.

While digging out my original copy of the “Operating Instructions and Parts List” for
my “New” Waterwitch, I happened upon 11 original Trailer Boats articles written by
Larry (Antique Corner). My father had apparently removed the magazine pages
and kept them in a brown envelope. Quite a treat as I too had already ordered
Larry’s book today!
Found the Waterwitch manual also!! And for the correct model!!

March 7, 2019 at 1:30 am #170486My copy should be here tomorrow. I also canceled my subscription when the Antique Corner stopped. It looks like the picture on the front is a mid ’30s Evinrude Sportfour. . .
