Would anyone know what material one would use to make a laminated coil bar? Type, thickness, etc?

I purchased and tested 10 of these digi key panasonic orange drop capacitors in this thread with my ST-75 Stevens Ignition Tester. They tested fantastic especially for the leakage test. They immediately were in the correct range for the leakage test where normal condensers take like half a second to get there they are there immediately. They also tested correctly for capacitance and resistance tests.

        Hope that helps,
        Joe

I tried the Solan "fast caps" on mine. I installed them outside, out from under the wheel. Worked in the barrel just fine. Lasted just long enough to fail just after launch.

Bought 2 for a 1965 Chevy. Work fine.

Just curious what is a solan fast cap and what brand, capacitance, who made it, etc.

Solan brand, .29 microfarad, 600v. They call them fast caps. I tried them at the beginning of last year. Polyester or something or other..just google solan fast caps…

Okay I was just curious which ones you had tried and who made them since they didn’t work.

The ones I tested are the ones FrankR uses and they tested very well if not better than an actual condenser. I will post his picture again these are the ones I tested and I got mine from digi key like he does they are made by Panasonic which makes reliable electronics.
