Hi everyone, just picked up a ’56 Wizard Super 10 WM7A. It is in rough shape but starts. I am looking for some parts, not sure if I am going to do a full restoration or just make it a nice looking reliable runner. Any help with finding parts would be great. Thanks.
November 4, 2016 at 4:39 pm #46998Hi Kevin, welcome to AOMCI. Our club has many folks here that can aim you in the right direction to get parts for your Wizard, and information on repair procedures. There is a free classifieds section, read the posting guidelines before posting. You have to include WTB ,your location and contact info.I’m sure someone will be along soon with some sources for your motor. You will find a lot of knowledegable help here .EDIT spellcheck

Robbie RobertsonNovember 4, 2016 at 5:06 pm #47000My mistake, I was more just saying hi to everyone and looking for places to search at than looking for specific parts, yet. I put my location on my profile but guess it isn’t showing under my name. I am located in Murfreesboro Tennessee. Thanks for the correction.

November 4, 2016 at 9:24 pm #47015A lot of the Mercury parts are the same as Wizard cylinder bore on some of the Wizards are a little smaller not sure if the WM7A is smaller or not. All the ignition, carb and impellers are the same for sure. I have a WG7 which runs real strong and picked up a WH7 that is in line behind the KE7 Mercury on the bench now. Old Mercs and Vintage outboard have most parts hand grips Doug Penn has. I agree with Dave Bernard join johnsoldmerc. There is plenty of info and help here too but the Mercury experts are there and there is a separate section for Wizard. Also a Wizard outboard forum too, it will tell which mercury model parts cross to which wizard. Reprotint has paint that should match.

how is it motors multiply when the garage lights get
turned off?November 4, 2016 at 11:39 pm #47020I also just picked up a WM7A which needs some work . Swivel pin is stuck beyond repair and the lower unit needs work, so I am looking for some parts. Can you post pics of your motor? The cowls on mine came through cracked in the back. I think the bottom can be welded, but need the top cowl which is missing the cowl part hook up for the fuel line which was broken. Also looking for a saddle.

May have to make a punch. Seems like I got one out by running a screw into the top of the pin for the punch to strike on, then applying force with a large "Mercury Special Tool" (see illustration) vigorously. Lots of pre-soak with your favorite penetrant. Good luck. JW
November 5, 2016 at 3:09 pm #47036Steel swivel pins stuck in aluminum swivels "beyond hope" are a can’t hurt might help situation
With nothing to lose you can use the nuclear option…TORCH…fabricate the "Mercury Service Tool from threaded rod, pipe, nuts and washer. Install on swivel pin and apply tension.
Then HEAT the swivel in the area of the pin…LOTS of HEAT and some twisting of nut to increase pressure. There can be only two results…one is GREAT and the other leaves you
no worse off. If it does not work you may have to saw thru pin to remove swivel from
saddle. Once unstuck swivel and pin may be good enough to use.
