Do not think the QD-15 will do that. My QD-13 has that option but have not been able to try it out yet. Stay safe Russ……

Here’s a video of a QD-13 restoration. The tiller handle throttle control is demonstrated. It’s a long video, but very interesting. The maker is a multi talented individual. He even does plating of the screws.

Those old 10s are great motors. I have several of them from QD-13 to QD-19. They take a bit more gas and oil than the newer 9.9s, but have noticeably more low end torque for getting up on plane. If it’s old enough to not have the twist-grip-throttle on the tiller, like the one in the video aquasonic posted, lifting the tiller backs off the carb, but not the spark advance – that is if the small on/off lever is flipped on to activate this feature. They run circles around my late 1960’s 9.5.

The qd 15 does not have that feature it is the same as the newer tens except it has the simplex starter and and the motor is spring silenced instead of rubber. The gears that mesh the twist grip handle to the motor are fine toothed they changed to a stronger ball type in .55. These motors with the skinny teeth should not have the twist grip turned when it is pointing up if there is wear on the teeth they will skip a tooth or strip the fine points of the end of the teeth.
            A wonderful engine enjoy.
