That’s what I am hoping for, low hours. I have a 55 5.5 Johnson that also had the original coils. No way to know for sure but I have wondered how long they sat up…waiting for me to find them.
October 22, 2016 at 7:59 pm #46329Well, after a new head gasket, coils, condensers, water pump impeller, carb kit, fuel lines, and various gaskets the 1956 7.5 Johnson is back up and running. Looks like a good one.

October 24, 2016 at 2:39 am #46399Minor thread hyjack, but had to post given the rarity. I just salvaged one of those oliver stands. I do think the legs are all the same for the OMC ones and the Oliver. I own several OMC stands, with this Oliver stand it was exposed to water for years and the legs literally crumbled when I pulled a ’57 big twin off of it.
Havent had a chance to try one of those legs, but Im pretty sure they interchange.
October 24, 2016 at 12:59 pm #46408Looks like it should be a good one, Mark. Thanks for the video.

October 26, 2016 at 9:30 pm #46521The Oliver stands were made by Vollrath, an aftermarket supplier. They made similar stands (same motor board, different tags) for Mercury, Wizard and Scott Atwater, too. I make miniatures of them for the K&O toy outboards.

Chicnewalker does a great job – I have one for my K&O 1954 Big Twin. . . 😀

October 28, 2016 at 11:57 pm #46651Hit the nail on the head CHinewalker, flipped it over and stamped is "Vollrath CO. U.S.A. 3201"
Trying to remember the last time I saw anything I bought with a metal stamp that said U.S.A.
October 29, 2016 at 8:53 am #46673I met a Us Army Ranger, commented on how his Berret looked,he took it off and showed me the label"made in China" WOW! Couldn’t believe it !IThink the IRS forms are still made here in the good ol USA. 🙂
