If the new wires are solid core, I’m wondering why they advertise them as ‘resistor’???

exactly….low being 0 ohms on my meter but has indicated they also use the same language for BMS 700715 (marine application wires) vs mine which are BMX700175

in ay event I have used these BMX700175’s before and no issues cames up and…. it works fine on my bottom cyl.

my next move: rip everything out and install all the bottom cyl parts (coil plug wire ,boot, points) . the ultimate swap one would say .

The washer on the magnet would ground the one coil directly .Why it allowed the other coil to spark is unknown the only thng I can thnk of is that on the sparking cylinder the edge gap must have been wide enough to allow the magnet to pass and energize that coil. What ever it was I was one happy camper when I found the washer and it fixed the problem.

            update:

got fire on the top plug 🙂

verdict…looks line a mix of things (sorry guys) two brand new capacitor …retested BAD on H.Mohat test box ??? , clean up the points…again and installed the bottom cyl. coil in the TOP position

so it looks like a Murphy issue more than crows 🙂 Using my Belden BMX700175 metallic wires and plug is firing fine.

not out of the woods yet… I need to transfer the top coil to the bottom position with points and condenser to check for sparks.

i’ll celebrate when both are firing then I’ll do the rewind starter thing

never had to swap so many parts 🙁

thanks everyone for the moral support !

Well, we all have been tangled in frustrating projects like this, and the harder we try, the more we get confused…At this point, don’t argue with success, it’s firing on both cylinders. Wait til you start working on that crazy rewind, now that is some real fun for sure!
