      I don’t think I’d want to use that. It’s very thick, very viscous, but it’s still a liquid, so with enough vibration it would start to flow out of the cavity. Sounds like a bad idea in the long run.

        I rebuilt a similar motor. My thought was that there must be other reasons more than insulation as to why they put so much of that black tar substance in that cavity to begin with, maybe for? heat, cold, shock, vibration etc. I dunno I’m just a rookie.

          A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

            I currently have a 1916 Evinrude RBM coil that is in operable condition. Now the high tension lead spark plug wire does need to be replaced.
