O rings

Should this fuel fitting have O-rings? It looks like they could be used or a gasket possibly.

O-rings would probably be crushed out of place. Fiber washers were used at each end of that "banjo fitting".

I’ve seen them with copper washers.
Should be able to get either of them get them at
a hardware store.
