Odd Electrical Connectors – Mercury?

I picked up a box of miscellaneous special tools and parts at yesterday’s meet. There were a few things in the box that were obviously not for outboards but I didn’t know about these two electrical plugs. The stuff was said to come from a Merc guy, and my knowledge of them is limited. I know some of the OMC harnesses were round plug in/out, but I’ve never seen these rigs. There is not part # or any writing on them at all that I can see, anyone recognize them – or are they not outboard related? (see photo below)

From your description, I would say you are right. They look like electrical adaptors to me. -What does the back end look like? ❓
