      Hello again

Okay so going to do the barrel test on this 1976 9.8 that i just changed the impeller out on, and noticed that the choke does not close completely. When the knob is pulled out it slides back in. So there must be a way to adjust the wire that pulls the butterfly valve closed but i can figure out how it is supposed to adjust.

If one of you could explain it I would appreciate it.

      Thanks

      Bill

Where the cable attaches to the carb, there’s a 5/16" head (as I recall) small cap screw. It goes through a short adjustment slot. Just loosen that, slide the adjustment until the choke is closed all the way with the choke pulled and tighten the screw. Very common problem with a very easy fix.

Just loosen #17 and move the standing end of #16 (the cable end….it has a very short adjustment slot) until the choke is fully closed with the knob pulled out. Then tighten #16 and check the adjustment.
