Greetings, new to this forum and these engines. Not sure this counts as antique, but I recently obtained an OMC 225C engine (spec 489400, SN 02284) that I’d like to find service info for. Not sure how old it is, maybe 84 from SN? Would like to know the plug type, fuel/oil mix ratio, wiring etc. Thanks for any clues you might offer!

What type of OMC engine is this? Does it have a model number? Perhaps you can post a picture or two….

2 cylinder, 2-stroke, horizontally opposed, all specs in original post, nameplate photo attached. Thank You!

Is it safe to assume it’s an outboard motor?
May seem silly, but snow mobile and sled websites come up with a quick look up of “omc 225c” on the innerwebs.
If indeed it is an outboard (and I can’t tell from the photo), marineengine.com says it’s a 1992 225 hp which is a v6. Which it ain’t.
Anyway, send pictures of the entire machine.

I think you’re right…it’s a snow mobile engine. I see what seem to be exhaust runners on the bottom.

              Long live American manufacturing!

Sleds! The one I have was retrofitted for an ultralight airplane. I found that 225 HP reference everywhere… Attaching another photo, exhaust is off. Cylinders look good, need to clean carb, find the right plugs and oil mix, then test run. Thanks for taking a look!

Well, OMC had several divisions back then, and this is not from an outboard. Looks to be either out of a snowmobile or a cushman vehicle.
