Will be needing to order parts for the 1957 Evinrude Big Twin 35 hp,
and am wondering if carb kits and ignition tune-up kits, and lower
unit seal kits are available for these?Looked a little on the Net, and find individual parts here and there.
I have no numbers for “kits”, so that doesn’t help.
Suggestions for finding kits, or your favorite, reasonable priced place
to shop for OMC parts?
Thanks.Prepare to be boarded!
April 25, 2020 at 12:28 am #200991Buc – I believe your motor will use the same kits as my ’56 30hp. I usually buy my parts on Marinengine but for whatever reason, I found better prices for most of these kits on Ebay. Of all places, at the time I was shopping for it, I got the best price on the carb kit on Amazon.
Carb kit – 439074
Tuneup kit – 172522
Water pump kit – 379774 (includes pump housing)
Gearcase seal kit – Sierra 18-2686If you don’t have it, here’s a link to a listing of kits on Marineengine. Even this listing is not totally complete.

it was long forgotten. Now if I can make rhyme or reason out of it. Seems they’re shy
about listing my 1957 model. For instance, with the kits below,
it looks like they’re two choices for points and condenser in the era,
but yet they don’t show 1957. Any reason? I don’t know what
the difference in the kits may be either.Ignition tune-up kits, points & condensers
25 1955 172522
25 1969-1976 172523
28 1962-1964 172523
30 1956 172522
33 1965-1970 172523
35 1958-1959 172522ME does list the point sets separate for mine though….
35 1957-1969 580148The closest I see on the carb kit is for a 1959 model.

April 25, 2020 at 9:11 am #201003Buc – in looking at the tables I also saw it seemed shy on listing the 57 model which is why I noted it seemed incomplete. No idea why the 57 model is omitted on certain kit listings..
The individual tables for points and condensers both list the same numbers for both 56 and 57 30/35hp motors so the 172522 combo kit is correct for both.
Not sure how I figured out the 439074 carb kit for my 56 motor but stands to reason if it worked on my 56 and the table lists it for a 59 motor it will also work on your 57.

April 25, 2020 at 6:49 pm #201032Thanks for the info Bill and Frank. Would the 580321 and 581419 condensers
be different mfd. ratings, or what? I’m guessing they both mount the same.
The prices on ME are the same for either.Bob, did you find any lower unit seal kits, or source all parts individually?
Thanks.Prepare to be boarded!
April 25, 2020 at 8:04 pm #201040581419 is a tad longer and higher mfd.
April 25, 2020 at 8:47 pm #201042Buc – gearcase seal kit is Sierra 18-2686 or GLM 87607.
