I have converted 3 or 4 pre 1960 Johnson and Evinrudes to single line fuel tanks with after market fuel pumps. My question is does this conversion lessen the value or collectability of these classic motors?

October 23, 2016 at 4:17 pm #46370we are all getting older along with our younger days memories…..the backup isn’t to strong and doesn’t care much other than using there thumps on Ipads and I phones ….or getting all grease up.
I am not worried about collectables… I am worried about the loss of collectors ! 😥
sorry, lousy cold & rainy day today

I think we all should worry about "collectors" too! I think we need to keep working to spread the knowledge to our younger generations. I know that there is a lot of attention given to the e-devices, but to our advantage, we can make a connection with them via their Ipads & I phones etc. My son is almost 18, but he has been hooked on these since he was 10! (My avatar is a photo of Kevin at Tomahawk with our 1963 200 back in 2013.) There are more of them out there, and I hope so as someone needs to be the caretaker of the collections, and it can’t be just a few of them.
Back to the original post, I have one Fleetwin that I converted to a Mikuni fuel pump. It was before I had a pressure tank, now that I have 3 of them, and I actually have been considering changing it back. 🙄 It is easy to do, and as long as you keep your old items, and don’t drill a bunch of holes etc. I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
