Has anyone had any experience with this OMC primer ? I got the screws all off the top (shown as screws number 2) in the figure but I cannot get the top to release my guess is because it’s so squashed together by so much pressure and years that the rubber to aluminum bond is holding it tight

Anyway the initial problem is that it of course doesn’t pump… the diaphragm seems to be intact because it will pressurize one side but it will not create vacuum on the other. ( I can only imagine where it’s getting the air to pressurize with since not coming in on the vacuum side)

It’s not a critical issue and I can replace this assembly with a simple $5 primer bulb but I would like to get the original functionality out of the unit since it’s bolted to the side the engine compartment. It’s also kind of an elite looking boating device.. aluminum frame..

I have seen these, but never had one apart…You mention that the diaphragm “looks OK”, perhaps one of the check valves is stuck…

well OMC lists the diaphragm at $70+ … so repair is out if thats bad…

otherwise so I’ll try some pb Blaster down the holes to and maybe a few taps in there with a 1/4″ wooden dowel.

Good news. Today i removed it from the hull and got it on the bench. First tried some light oil down the.holes. no success

Finally i was able to get the seam free.

A Previous user had put one of the valves in upsidedown. ..

              Gez.
