This seems like a dumb question, but I’m ready to assemble a couple of single line tanks I’ve been working on. Have managed to lose the screws. My recollection is that they are something like #8 about an inch long, with some sort of special heads with washers. (?). Not sure if they are fine or coarse thread.
The part number for the screws may be 304888 and the washers may be 305863.
Can anybody enlighten me?
Thanks!
August 12, 2016 at 9:38 pm #41973There were two kinds. Early ones had washer heads and used flat fiber washers to seal them. Later ones had cupped heads and came with sealant, however o-rings could be used. All were 1/4-20 and interchangeable. Sorry, I don’t know the length offhand.
August 13, 2016 at 12:06 am #41980We must be talking about different screws. These are #8 I think. Definitely not 1/4." I can see a need to seal under the heads because there is not an all-around seal between the tank and the "manifold." http://tinyurl.com/hysp6r3 . maybe small nylon washers would work.
August 13, 2016 at 2:16 am #41992OK, having outed myself as disorganized, I found the bag of screws and they are #10 – 24, length under the head .720. OD of the flange about 0.333. The fibre sealing washers are about .365 (OD) by 0.193 (ID) by 0.57 thick. ‘Course, they are likely a bit squished out from the original dimensions. Hopefully these washers are a hardware store item. Thus, the earlier of the two versions mentioned by FrankR.

Oops, I goofed. I didn’t read what it said. I had double line tanks on my mind. Sorry ’bout that.
August 13, 2016 at 7:52 pm #42035I was able to get fibre washers at the local farm store for 30 cents each. More than they should cost but marineengine.com lists them for about $6 each. Do they need sealer?
I cut gaskets of 1/16 in rubber/cork sheet. Not sure what the official material is.
Can’t really complain about prices, I suppose. Bombardier obviously doesn’t have an obligation to support many-decades-old equipment. But it only makes sense to use generic materials when possible.
So the tanks now look done but I haven’t been into the little pin-operated valves, so we shall see…..
