P-50 ring in P-40

Can I modify a P50 piston ring to work in a P40piston if I file the gap ? 2 11/16 on p40 2 3/4 on the P50 🙄

No. Even a .020" over size P40 ring in a standard bore would not be a good fit after filing end gap. I might have a NOS P40 ring around here if you need it.

Randy, still soaking the PR 40 powerhead. I haven’t had any luck getting it unstuck. Will give it another try over the weekend.

Randy, if you can find them, +0.010 oversize rings will work in a given bore size. 1/16" (0.0625) oversize is just too much.

I have lots of rings here for different things which I’ll never use but nothing near what you need. Anyone building a Ford flathead V8? Lots of those from std. to +0.070. Free. Take them.

Just checked and found I have two 2 11/16 +.010 which should work in a standard bore after filing end gap especially if bore has a little wear.
