Does any one know what the fuel ratio should be. I have been told a lot of different mixtures like 40:1, 24:1, 18:1, 8:1, 40:1 with some 30 weight oil. Don’t really know what to think anymore.

        Hi Brad

This page from an old Johnson book says one pint per gallon which makes it an 8:1 ratio fuel mix. That’s not too uncommon with the rotary valve motors.

Stick with the 8:1 mix and the motor will probably outlive you as it has others. 😀

And the best part is you’ll always be able to find your way back to the dock – just follow the oil slick!

My XR will make a mess of the lake once I get it fired up!

Point of order: I believe that one pint to one gallon makes it 16:1 . Doncha think doncha?

NO! One gallon has four quarts in it and each quart has two pints in it. Four times two equals eight. A half pint of oil to a gallon makes a 16:1 mix.

What mix have you been using in your motors?
