Were the Evinrude Scout and Elto Pal models originally painted just  a dull silver?

The reason I ask, is that the cowls on the two Scouts that I have seen here don’t appear to have any paint at all, just a  bare aluminium casting finish.  The only paint (silver) appears to be just on the tank whereas the Pals seem to be all silver.

      Thanks in advance

As best as I can tell, from the examples I’ve
seen, everything on the Pal is painted a dull
silver except the petcock, fuel line, and fuel
fillings at the carburetor. They are nickel plated.
I can’t tell if the motors were painted assembled
or some parts were painted separately where
screws, nuts, and bolts would have been natural.
I would suspect the Scout covers would have
been painted, as it seems that was what they
were doing then, but like you, the 2 Scouts
I have had show no indication of paint though
neither were anything to brag about when
        I got them.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Thanks Tubs for your comments……. with all your experience of those motors, you’ve confirmed my thoughts regarding the painting.

          Thanks againj
